Description

Folios 282-283: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reply to letter dated 21 February 1806 in the cases of John Clough and James Nichols whose discharge has been requested. John Clough was impressed at South Shields on 6 January 1806 having been a carpenter of a ship at sea for four years and a shipmate of the Midshipman of the South Shields Gang. James Nichols was impressed at North Shields on 10 January 1806 having been about two years at sea and not being exempted .

Folios 284-285: enclosure with folios 282-283. Thomas Ferguson, No 3 George Yard, Lombard Street, to John Barrow Esq, dated 18 February 1806. Covering letter for the enclosed Indentures of James Nichols, apprentice to Mr Thomas Dryden of Seaton Sluice, Ship Owner, also the Affidavit of his said Master.

Folios 286-287: enclosure with folios 282-283. Indentures of James Nichols aged 17 [with description], dated 5 May 1803.

Folio 288: enclosure with folios 282-283. Affidavit dated 11 February 1806 for James Nichols son of William Nichols of Hartley being apprenticed to Mr Thomas Dryden, Owner and also signed by William Harrison, Master of the Ship Maxwell. Sworn at Earsdon on 11 February 1806, signed Thomas Fenwick, Justice of the Peace, Northumberland.

Folios 289-290: enclosures with folios 282-283. Letter dated 18 February 1806 by Thomas Ferguson, 3 George Yard, Lombard Street, to John Barrow. Covering letter for the affidavit of Stephen Atkinson, Master of the ship Harrisons also the articles of the said vessel together with the affidavit of S Temple of South Shields ship builder proving John Clough to be a bona fide Carpenter and lately serving as such on the said ship. Request his discharge.
