Folios 253-254: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reply to letter dated 18 January 1806 in the case of Ralph Rutherford whose discharge has been applied for in the enclosed letter. He was impressed at South Shields on 19 December 1805 and detained for the service as being illegally appointed Mate of the ship to which he belonged.
Folio 255: enclosure with folios 253-254. Certificate that Richard Holdsworth is Master of the Vessel called Hope of Newcastle and appointed Ralph Rutherford who is 21 years [description] to be Chief Mate.
Folios 256-257: enclosure with folios 253-254. Affidavit sworn before Robert Pamshaw, North Shields, Northumberland, dated 15 January 1806. In the Kings Bench. Richard Holdsworth, of South Shields in Durham, Master of the vessel called the Hope of Newcastle upon Tyne, appointed Ralph Rutherford Chief Mate.
