Folios 317-318: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Confirms that Robert Barry has been employed for some time as a Carpenter of a Transport ship and also on a West Indiaman. Advises that Barry was sent to the Nore on 16 September 1805.
Folio 319: enclosure with folios 317-318. Letter dated 15 September 1805, from John Marshall, Whitby to the Admiralty. Covering letter, enclosing the petition of Robert Barry.
Folios 320-321: enclosure with folio 319. Petition dated 15 September 1805, of Robert Barry, HMS Hope, Shields to the Admiralty. States that he was impressed on Wednesday 4 September 1805 near Sunderland, while travelling home to Whitby, and taken on board HMS Hope at Shields. Advises that he was going to Whitby to have a new ship built, having entered into a contract with John Barry, Shipbuilder for the hull to be built. Offers to find 1 seaman or 2 able-bodied men as substitutes for his room.
