Folios 294-295: William Carleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. reports on the case of John Green whose discharge has been applied for, in enclosed letter, by Jonathan Greenock. Advises that John Green was originally detained on suspicion of desertion but later produces an Affidavit from a Master of a ship on which he had been a castaway and that he also had lost his discharge papers from HMS Agamemnon along with all his effects. Reports that he discharged Green as he had a Customs House Certificate to go to Greenland next season.
Folios 296-297: enclosure with folios 294-295. Letter dated 1 September1805, from Jonathan Greenock, Glazier, South Shields to the Admiralty. Asks for assistance in the release of John Green, Mate of the Rebecca, John Bolam, Master who has been impressed. States Green was impressed into, and then legally discharged, from HMS Agamemnon around 26 October 1804 by Admiralty Order but the papers were lost in a shipwreck. Advises that Green is a harpooner and Boatswain of the Norfolk and to be impressed again is a disaster but that Captain William Carleton will not release John Green until a copy of the Admiralty Order of Green's discharge is received.
