Folios 285-286: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reports on whether David Atkinson, Lieutenant is fit for service afloat. States that he examined Atkinson in conjunction with Mr Drury but as his complaint of rheumatism is not visible, refers the Admiralty to certificates from the medical men who have attended Atkinson. Certificate enclosed and another from the last ship in which he served, which is with the Admiralty, and countersigned by Thomas Brown, Captain, HMS Orestes.
Folio 287: enclosure with folios 285-286. Medical Certificate, dated 7 August 1805, Anthony Edward Whinfield, Surgeon, Newcastle on Tyne. States David Atkinson, Lieutenant, suffers from rheumatism and will be subject to frequent attacks if exposed to cold damp air.
