Folios 279-280: William Charleton. Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reports the case of William Jervey whose discharge has been requested by Walter Miller in the enclosed letter. Advises that William Jervey was delivered to the Lieutenant at Newcastle by the Collector of Customs, having been found to be personating the Mate of another vessel in the execution of a smuggling bond.
Folios 281-282: enclosure with folios 279-280. Letter dated 30 July 1805, from Walter Miller, Agent, Wilson Street, Finsbury Square, London to the Admiralty. Encloses the Affidavit of the Captain of the sloop Newburgh Volunteer regarding his Mate, William Jervey, being impressed contrary to the regulations and requests his release.
Folios 283-284: enclosure with folios 281-282. Petition and Affidavit, dated 24 July 1805, of William Bennett, Master of the Newburgh Volunteer of Leith, Scotland. Petitions for the discharge of William Jervey, Mate of the Newburgh Volunteer who was impressed on 6 July 1805 at Newcastle. Attaches his Affidavit and that of John Kay, Merchant and owner of the Newburgh Volunteer, Leith, both dated 24 July 1805 and sworn before P Wood, Justice of the Peace, Leith.
