Description

Folios 257-258: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reports on the case of James Dean whose discharge has been applied for by the Bailiffs of Southwold in the enclosed letter. Advises that James Dean is the man whose case was reported to the Admiralty on 14 June 1805 and 24 June 1805 who chose not to dismiss him. Says that he does not consider the claim that James Dean is a Constable a reason to dismiss. Folios 259-260: Enclosure with folios 257-258: Letter, dated 2 July 1805, from Robert Carr and Francis Wayth, Bailiffs, Southwold to the Admiralty.

Folios 259-260: enclosure with folios 257-258. Letter dated 2 July 1805, from Robert Carr and Francis Wayth, Bailiffs, Southwold to the Admiralty. Request the discharge of James Dean, Mariner and Master of the Pilot boat, the Busy of Southwold who was impressed on 30 May 1805 from the Sole Bay, James Storry, Master, whilst in Sunderland Harbour. Advises that James Dean is one of the Constables in Southwold, duly sworn in on the Friday after Easter, and at the request of James Storry, and with permission from themselves, was hired to navigate James Storry's vessel but forgot to take a Certificate of Leave of Absence with him or proof that he was a Constable.
