Folios 223-224: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. States the cases of Thomas Wythe and James Dean whose discharge has been applied for by William Edge, Captain, in the enclosed letter. Reports that Thomas Wythe was impressed at North Shields on 30 May 1805 with no legal protection documents on him nor did he explain that he was enrolled in the Sea Fencibles. The enclosed Affidavit was on his person but says that no man named Westrop can be found and thus cannot consider it as proper proof. Advises that James Dean was impressed at Sunderland on 30 May 1805 on the basis that the enclosed ticket from Captain Charles Tinling of the Sea Fencibles in Suffolk did not have authorisation from the Admiralty to grant leave out of their district. Advises that the Master of the ship from which Dean had been impressed stated that Dean had said he had been Master of a ship from which he had been dismissed, had been at sea 9 years and has a wife and 2 children to support.
Folios 225-226: enclosure with folios 223-224. Letter dated 10 June 1805 from William Edge, Captain, Sea Fencibles at Aldborough to the Admiralty. Requests the discharge of Thomas Wythe, who belongs to the Sea Fencibles in Aldborough and James Dean of the Sea Fencibles at Southwold. Explains that both men were impressed at North Shields out of the coasting vessels they belong to. States that Thomas Wythe is an Articled Mate with a wife and family and James Dean was Master of a vessel but went on a voyage while his vessel was loading to assist in supporting his wife and children.
Folio 227: enclosure with folios 223-224. Ticket dated 3 February 1805, signed by Charles Tinling, Captain, Sea Fencibles for the Stour to Southwold, Suffolk. States that James Dean belongs to the Sea Fencibles of the District of the Stow to Southwold and has been given leave to follow his occupation out of said District for a voyage from London to Newcastle and back to Southwold. Contains overleaf a physical description of James Dean and that the ticket was reissued on 2 April 1805 and 13 May 1805.
Folio 228: enclosure with folios 223-224. Affidavit dated 12 March 1805, of Thomas Westrop of Aldeburgh, Master of the Visitor, sworn before Benjamin [surname illegible], Collector. Swears that Thomas Wythe is Chief Mate of the Visitor. Contains a physical description of Thomas Wythe.
