Folios 184-185: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reports on the case of Charles Tonkinson whose discharge has been applied for by P Taylor in the enclosed letter. Advises that Charles Tonkinson was impressed at South Shields on 2 May 1805 and detained as fit to serve by Mr Dreery, Examining Surgeon, as the injury to the hand did not prevent its perfect use. Advises that he has never considered Pension tickets as exemptions from future services and dismissed that plea.
Folios 186-187: enclosure with folios 184-185. Letter dated 11 May 1805, from P Taylor, Agent, Sunderland to the Admiralty. Requests the release of Charles Tonkinson, currently on board HMS Eliza who was impressed at South Shields on 2 may 1805. States that Tonkinson was discharged from HMS Arrogant 11 years ago as a consequence of a lance to his left hand which rendered him unfit for service and has been considered a Pensioner ever since. Advises that Tonkinson was impressed 2 years ago at Portsmouth but was immediately released on account of his injury and Pension Ticket,
