Folios 124-125: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reports the case of Matthew Brown, said to be an American, and whose discharge has been applied for by George W Erving, American Consul. States Matthew Brown was impressed at Newcastle on 16 February 1805 and was thought to be a native of Ireland and is known to his people to have been employed on the Impress Service at Bristol in 1782 on board one of the tenders.
