Folios 422-423: John Clements, Sea Fencibles, Leith. On investigating the complaint, he finds that William Hunter, Marine went on board HMS Rattle at Burntisland drunk so Lieutenant Wickham ordered him to be guarded. The next day, Hunter refused to work saying he was invalided from the Marines with dropsy so he was whipped. Hunter's wife came on board and showed his invalidity ticket and he was discharged. A letter is enclosed showing that Hunter's statement about the mistreatment of his wife is false.
Folios 424-425: enclosure with folios 422-423. Letter dated 21 September 1799 by William Hunter. States his first statement against Lieutenant Wickham was inaccurate.
