Folios 199-200: Stephen George Church, HMS Topaze, Nore. Thomas Goodwin and James Brian have been sentenced at Courts Martial to receive 200 lashes for desertion at Quebec. As they have been well behaved during their six weeks in irons he asks for their pardon. He felt the crew needed an example but since then, they have all behaved well and a reprieve for the two would have a very good effect on the whole crew.
