Folios 236-237: James Cornwallis, HMS Sheerness, Cowes Roads. Reports that Second Lieutenant Edward Alexander Bentham has been absent from the ship since 1 March 1798, against his express orders. He is informed that Lieutenant Bentham has hidden himself hoping to be left behind, as he knows the ship is under sailing orders. Encloses [no longer present] statements of the condition of his ship and HMS Pearl.
