Folios 229-230: James Cornwallis, HMS Sheerness, Spithead. David Smith has been serving as Master at Arms, but when the ship was paid on 22 February 1798, the Commisioner refused to pay Mr Smith until his warrant was confirmed. Encloses the warrant he gave the Master at Arms, asks for it to be confirmed so that he can be paid.
Folio 231: enclosed with folios 229-230. Warrant dated 6 January 1797 issued by Captain James Cornwallis, HMS Sheerness, at sea, appointing David Smith as Master at Arms.
