Folios 269-270: James Cornwallis, HMS Sheerness, Portsmouth. Acknowledges letter of 23rd saying Lieutenant Wright, Lieutenant of Marines had his leave to go onshore to settle his private affairs when the ship sailed sooner than was expected because of favorable winds. This was the only reason he was left behind and that he had no intention of disserting his duty.
