Folios 256-258: James Cornwallis, HMS Sheerness, Spithead. The ship has not been on shore and from the frequency of finding his cables unserviceable on the coast of Africa both he and the Carpenter are apprehensive that the lead of the knee head or some of the copper sheets off the bows are missing. His did not include this with the other defects of the ship to make it necessary that the ship’s bottom is surveyed.
