Folios 195-196: James Colnett. Reports his arrival from Brest in HMS Ceres Cartel with Lieutenant Maxwell, late 2nd Lieutenant, HMS Hussar, Lieutenant Hanman of the Marines, Mr Gray, Surgeon, William Prior, Purser and William Small, Carpenter. Says he has reason to expect the Master, Boatswain and Gunner to arrive in a few days and that Lieutenant Phillips, late HMS Hussar’s 1st Lieutenant is in England. Asks that a Court Martial is assembled to look into the loss of HMS Hussar, frigate off the French coast, 24 December 1796.
