Folios 261-262: Thomas Wittewronge Whitewell Clayton, HMS Prince William, North Shields. He sailed from Leith on 11 July 1797 and on the morning of 13 July, off Coquet Island recaptured two ships which had been taken by Le Lion earlier that morning. The Royal George Excise vessel had chased off the privateer, he has brought the vessel to this place and as soon as they have the men on board and the prisoners placed in security he will proceed to Hull. The ships were the Caroline of Hull, Charles Marshall Master and the Nelly of Macduff, James Peterson Master, both laden with coals.
