Folios 243-244: Thomas Wittewronge Whitewell Clayton, HMS Prince William, North Shields. Report of the chase of a Privateer on the morning of 4 June 1797, with HMS Rambler, and with the agreement of Sir Joseph Eyles. Unfortunately she managed to outrun them. They returned to port to receive their Signal Flags, which have been expected for some time, and to return some Volunteers. He has received their Lordship's order, from Lieutenant [Schomb?] to avoid going to the Nore. He will acquaint the Mayor of Hull concerning a convoy to the Nore and resume his station cruising between Flamborough Head and Yarmouth.
