Folios 515-516: Edmund Crawley, HMS Lion, Yarmouth Roads. Reports that he received a letter on Saturday from the Post Office at Yarmouth, which had been taken out the day before, opened, and then re-sent. The Postmaster informed Lieutenant Tremlett that he had given the letter the day before to a Midshipman in the name of Higgs, who had requested letters. When Mr Higgs returned on board on Sunday , Captain Crawley sent him with Lieutenant Eveleigh to the Postmaster, who identified him as the person to whom he gave the letter on Friday. Captain Crawley has therefore confined Mr Higgs until he receives further orders.
