Description

Folios 505-506: Edmund Crawley, HMS Lion, Portsmouth Roads. Received yesterday the letter of 21 June, addressed to The Downs. Sends a list of the men requested, with the circumstances relating to each of them. These men expressed a wish to volunteer in service when they arrived on board HMS Lion on 21 May. He has omitted Alexander Dixon, who now refuses to become a volunteer, as he has requested friends to procure him a discharge. If no discharge is granted, Captain Crawley hopes that he will be included in the bounty list.
