Folios 503-504: Edmund Crawley, HMS Lion, the Nore. Reports that William Edwards and Thomas Smith are entered on the Supernumerary List (for victuals) for his ship as belonging to HMS Camilla. It appears they were both sent sick to the Union Hospital Ship at Sheerness in June 1795, where they remained for more than 30 days and were afterwards sent to HMS Lion for a passage to Spithead with a view to joining their ship. This proved impossible and they wish to remain on HMS Lion. Requests that they are discharged from the Supernumerary List to the Ships Books as part of the ship's complement, as in the present situation they cannot receive the more than 13 months pay which appears to be due to them from HMS Camilla, and HMS Lion is very short of seamen.
