Folios 495-496: Edmund Crawley, HMS Lion, Portsmouth. Reports that Robert Pringle, 1st Lieutenant on HMS Lion, is in sick quarters on shore and there is no prospect of his return. Requests that William Tatham, currently serving on HMS Adventure, be appointed. Captain Rutherford of HMS Adventure has no objection to the move. In fairness to the officers of HMS Lion, and particularly Lieutenant New, nothing short of a prison sentence and promises to Lieutenant Tatham would induce him to ask for an officer to be appointed over them.
