Folios 435- 442: George Countess, HMS Daedalus, Cape Coast Castle. Report on the state and condition of Cape Coast Castle. Includes a list of all personnel at the garrison, including the Governor, Archibald Dalzel, and 53 named individuals including army and civilian personnel. Also includes a list of 75 named 'serviceable' enslaved males, giving their employment/trade and age, and 83 enslaved females with their employment (mainly labourers, with some others), age, and number of children. List of 10 'unserviceable' enslaved males and 7 'unserviceable' enslaved females, with ages. In addition includes lists of soldiers' arms and clothing, numbers of boats and canoes, situation and description of armaments, and summary of ordnance stores. Finally, a summary of the fabric of all the buildings, both exterior and interior, signed by George Countess and Archibald Dalzel.
