Folios 392-393: John Cooke, HMS Quebec, Spithead. Reports that he joined HMS Melpomene and HMS St Florenze on 10 January, as ordered on 4 January. They experienced gales from that night until the morning of 15 January and he lost several shrouds, and was threatened with losing the masts in any further gale. He signalled HMS Melpomene and was ordered by Sir Charles Hamilton to make for Spithead, where he has arrived today. Encloses a report on the state of the vessel.
