Folio 236-237: enclosure with folio 233. James Colnett, St Osyth,18 August 1796. Description of the area from the River Crouch to St. Osyth point, which forms the east point of the entrance to the River Colne leading to Wivenhoe and Colchester. Recommends a 40-gun ship as marked on the chart, to prevent ships passing over the shoals at high water. Notes areas suitable for landing of troops, and those with good road connections inland. Recommends sites for signal stations.
