Description

Folios 187-188: John Clements, HMS Spitfire, Plymouth Sound. Encloses the names of places along the coast from the Isle of Wight to Lands End where signal stations have been installed. He has received a letter from W Steward, Governor of the Isle of Portland, informing him that on the 13 June the flagstaff and topmast installed there was struck by lightning. He will install a replacement on his way back to Spithead. All the temporary buildings are completed except that near Maker Church which will take a week longer.
