Folios 465-467: Charles Craven, HMS Trimmer, St Aubins Road, Isle of Jersey. On 26 August he left Spithead as ordered by Sir Peter Parker to be under Captain Henry d'Esterre Darby, HMS Pomona until 26 September when he came to Guernsey communicating with Colonel Dundas. He ordered Lieutenant Henry Clarke Searle HMS Liberty to convoy Col Mercer to England. He attempted to impress men in Guernsey but only found 2. He captured the Hare from New York to Hamburgh with sugar & Cotton from French Colonies and took her into St Aubins. Meanwhile the Fox hired cutter under Lieutenant John Gibson arrived with letters for Col Craig which he took to Guernsey to Col Thomas Dundas. He has received no further intelligence of the French war preparations at St Malo.
