Description

Folios 46-47: David Colby, HMS Gelikheid, Yarmouth Roads. As per Orders of Rear Admiral Bartholomew Samuel Rowley of 10 September 1803 in the cases of:- John Allanson, Thomas Peplow and Joseph Gribble. John Allanson was discharged on 21 August 1803 by Admiralty Order, being under 18. Thomas Peplow discharged by order of Rear Admiral Edward Thornborough into HMS Vesuvius for a passage to HMS Zealand as a supernumerary. Joseph Gribble was impressed from the Trevanion a light collier at Chatham on 8 May 1803 by an Officer from HMS Gelikheid and did not produce any documents about being a Mate.

Folios 48-49: enclosure with folios 46-47. Petition of John Storey, Master of the Tynemouth Castle. That 11 July 1803 John Allanson was impressed from my ship into HMS Gelikheid. Enclosed Certificate of Baptism and affidavits by petitioner and Father of the Boy

Folio 50: enclosure with folios 46-47. John Story Master of the Tinemouth [Tynemouth] Castle of Newcastle upon Tine [Tyne] make Oath that John Allanson aged 16 son of George Allanson Officer of Excise at South Shields did go on the Tinemouth Castle from Newcastle to London and back. Sworn before Richard Wallis, Justice of the Peace for the County of Durham. 22 July 1803. [Also] George Allanson Officer of Excise at South Shields make Oath that his Son John Allanson is under 18 years old and was on a tryel [trial] voyage in June 1803 in the ship Tinemouth [Tynemouth] Castle, John Story Master to London. Sworn before Richard Wallis, Justice of the Peace for the County of Durham.

Folio 51: enclosure with folios 46-47. Signed Declaration of William Grewcock Owner and Captain of the Trevanion sworn before Richard Thompson Mayor of the City of Rochester in Kent on 23 August 1803.

Folios 52-53: enclosure with folios 46-47. Petition Dated 26 August 1803, of William Grewcock, Owner of the Trevanion of South Shields in the Coal Trade, Henry Elliott Master. Request Joseph Gribble be discharged.
