Folios 452-453: Alexander Inglis Cochrane, HMS Northumberland, the Hamoaze. He has noticed that on the ship's books, several of the men who joined at Greenock have a charge against their names of 16s 7d for beds. He ordered that one of these beds be opened on the Quarter Deck, encloses [no longer present] samples of the ticking and the stuffing, which should show that the men have been mis-charged. Thinks the quality is as poor as the samples he sent to the Admiralty in 1790 from a volunteer raised at Cork. Asks for these beds and all of the Slops issued to these men at Greenock to be surveyed.
