Folios 135-136: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reports that John Kepple, Waterman, was impressed on 12 November 1803 at Newcastle. He produced a certificate from Longbenton Parish showing that he was baptized in 1786, but appeared much older than that to Captain Charleton and to his Surgeon. Knows that it is common for coal miners to christen several of their children at the same time.
Folios 137-138: enclosed with folios 135-136. Letter from S Temple Jones, New Hummums, London, to the Admiralty dated 19 November 1803. Understands from letters he has received that Kepple, who is a a wherryman at his colliery in Jarrow on the River Tyne, has been impressed although he is 16 years old and has never been to sea. Asks for his discharge.
