Description (What the record is about)
-
Folios 85-86: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reports that Henry Moorehouse was impressed on 14 October 1803 at Shields as he had not signed the articles of the ship he was on. The Master of the vessel tried to present articles which he himself had signed in Moorehouse's name.
Folios 87-88: enclosed with folios 85-86. Petition from Messrs Hawk and Jackson, shipowners, Canterbury Square, Southwark, to the Admiralty. They have received a letter from Shields stating that Henry Moorehouse, Chief Mate of their ship the Three Brothers, was impressed as he was towing the ship up the river. The Mate, Sam Whitley, reports that because of Moorehouse being seized, the vessel broke loose and sustained considerable damage. Ask for him to be discharged.
