Folios 596-597: George Countess, Sommers Town, London. Encloses his application together with that of nephew, James George Chubb requesting that he be appointed as Master's Mate or Midshipman on HMS Amazon under Captain Samuel Sutton, who he has written to on the subject. James Chubb served with him from 22 January 1794 to 28 October 1800, from then he remained onboard the Robust until she was paid off. He is now sitting the examination to become a Lieutenant. Encloses set of certificates.
Folio 598: enclosurue with folios 596-597. Five certificates covering the period 22 January 1794 to 28 October 1800 given by George Countess confirming that during that period James George Chubb served in various capacities in an exemplary fashion on the Charon, Pegasus, Daedalus, Ethalion and Robust when those vessels were under his command.
