Folios 268-269: Alexander Cochrane, London. Received request from W I Thomas, late Midshipman on HMS Ajax asking if he would request the Admiralty to order him a passage to New York, where he was born, on the frigate now fitting out in Portsmouth. As he conducted himself with great propriety whilst under his command he seconds the request.
