Folios 253-254: Alexander Cochrane, HMS Ajax, Downs. Requests that he is paid the £42 owed to him whilst Captain of HMS Thetis. He incurred this amount in November 1797 whilst cruising and saw a vessel to which gave chase. The vessel"upsett" and he was able to save 30 or 40 of her crew. She was a privateer belonging to"New Providences". The costs were incurred in providing relief, including clothing, and sending them home at the first opportunity. As His Majesty's Subjects felt they were entitled to every relief.
