Folios 117-118: James Carthew, 14 Clements Inn, London. HMS Rosario, the fire ship which he commanded, was burnt on 7 July 1800 by the enclosed order of Captain Harry Inman. Asks for an Admiralty order dispensing with the requirement for the books and papers necessary to pass his accounts, all of which were lost with the ship.
Folio 119: enclosed with folios 117-118. Orders dated 7 July 1800 by Captain Henry Inman, HMS Dart, off Dungeness, to Commander James Carthew, HMS Rosario. Orders that the fire ship HMS Rosario should be set on fire to effect the destruction of the enemy vessels in Dunkirk Roads.
