Foliios 113-114: Charles Carter, HMS Adventure, Spithead. He sailed from Gibraltar on November 1, 1800, with General Sir James Putney, Brigadier General Maitland and their staffs and part of the 52nd Regiment to carry them to Lisbon. Having re-victualled, he was directed by Admiral Lord Keith to sail for England and arrived today. His ship is in a very leaky condition and is 30 men short of her complement.
