Description

Folios 373-374: Arthur Batt Bingham, HMS Myrtle, Milford Haven. Responds to a letter from Mr. Barrow enclosing the opinion of the King's Proctor, the Advocate General and the Admiralty's Advocate about the Brig Alexander saved from shipwreck and brought into port by his ship. HMS Myrtle had been ordered to sea prior to the Brig Alexander's sailing which was left under the charge of the Custom Officers at Milford until the salvage could be awarded by the Magistrates. The decision to release her was made by the Collector of the Customs at Milford, at which point she sailed for Greenock. He encloses the letter from the Collector to the Side Surveyor. Asks for salvage to be paid to the ship's company of HMS Myrtle.

Folio 376: enclosed with folios 373-374. Paper given out from Record Office from Captain Bingham, HMS Myrtle.

Folios 377-379: enclosed with folios 373-374. Letter dated 20 April 1815 by the Collector of the Customs House Milford to the Side Surveyor. Asks for the Master of the Brig Alexander to be informed that she will not be detained despite Captain Bingham's request for salvage which should be settled in the Admiralty court.
