Folios 347-350: Edmund Boyer, HMS Prince, Spithead. Reports that John Orton (or Horton) was received on HMS Prince on 7 July 1815 from HMS Forth. He volunteered in April 1814 on board HMS Enterprise, was sent by tender to the Nore and joined HMS Newcastle and then 6 weeks later joined HMS Forth. He is equal to the rating of Landman and received £1.10s bounty. Returns a letter from Thomas Orton.
Folios 348-349: enclosed with folios 347-350. Letter dated 27 June 1815 by Thomas Orton. About 12 months ago John Orton, son of his brother Richard volunteered on board HMS Newcastle and he was next heard of at the American Station on HMS Forth, commanded by Sir William Bolton. Advises he is asking for his liberty and asks on behalf of his brother for his discharge.
