Folios 276-279: Edward Brace, HMS Berwick, Spithead. The passing of his accounts has been held up for over 12 months because the Log did not mention the loss of 120 fathoms of 8 inch cablets and 80 fathoms of 4 and a half cables though it is mentioned on an enclosed Boatswain and Carpenters survey. He explains the circumstances in which this occured and states that Sir Israel Pellew originally expected it to be recovered but then ordered it should be said to be lost in the service. He cannot be responsible to the Master's omission of this in the Log.
