Folios 254-255: Robert H Barclay, 19 Buckingham Street. He refers to First Lieutenant Purves (sometimes written Purvis) lately of the Provincial Marine in Canada. He writes that at the time he returned from Canada, Lieutenant Purves was still a prisoner in the United States. He gave orders before his departure that he and others of his fellow officers should come to England as soon as they were released to give evidence at the court martial in respect of the loss of HMS Squadron on Lake Erie. That order was confirmed by the Governor Sir James Yeo.
