Folios 165-166: John Bedford, HMS Childers, At Sea. He lists three men, John Dennis, Matthew Mason and William Emery who failed to join his ship when it sailed from Plymouth and were marked as being on the run in the ship's books. They have now rejoined his ship having been given passage by HMS Salvador del Mundo and so he suggests that they no longer be designated runaways. Similarly John Smith, aged 83, who was left behind in Barbados, boarded HMS Rhin the very same day and so should not be considered a deserter as he continues to serve aboard her.
