Folios 141-142: enclosure with folio 140. Letter dated 9 October 1814 by Lieutenant Chads, Fareham. His letter recounts how he was present when Lieutenant Seward was given despatches by Captain Bowles and told to post them in the first post office. He had assumed that this errand was a device to get the Lieutenant a passage back to England but he cannot recall other elements of the conversation but if called upon he will swear an affidavit to what he recalls.
