Folio 107-109: Walter Bathurst, HMS Fame, Mahon. He reports carrying the 10th Regiment and their Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Otto Bayer together with his senior officers from Taragona to Genoa by order of Rear Admiral Hallowell. This has meant he has had heavy expenses for which he asks for recompense. He refers to the Regulations covering such monies those of 1812 Jan 7.
Folio 109-110: enclosure with folios 107-109 marked 'Duplicate', Captain Walter Bathurst, HMS Fame, Mahon. The letter repeats the facts set out in Folio 107-109 but elaborates the discussion by reference to the regulations governing the carriage of troops and their officers and to his particular circumstances. He asks whether Army officers should be treated as are Naval Captains who are seeking passage, that is the navy bears the cost of mess bills and so on or whether the Army Offices should be asked to pay for themselves. He is concerned that he, personally will be left considerably out of pocket as a result of following the orders given to him and a narrow reading of the regulations. He copies the order given to him by Rear Admiral Hallowell.
