Folios 418-419: Thomas Brown, HMS Loire, Spithead. He responds to letters forwarded from the Mayor of Plymouth and Mr. Bicknell, the Admiralty Solicitor. he says that he has made enquiries and there is no man on board by the names of Patrick Doyle, or Bryan Huivan. He suggests that Stephen Curwen may be the man sought and gives a description of him as he deserted in January. His mess mates report that when he deserted he had over £50 in his possession and two watches.
