Folios 406-407: Thomas Brown, HMS Loire, Spithead. He was provisioned for service in the Channel, but was ordered to bring home the East India fleet which required him to obtain further provisions from Mr. Balcombe on St. Helena. He says that he was following Navy practice and asks to be reimbursed.
