Folios 242-244: Samuel James Ballard, Portsmouth. He asks for James Eagan to be given a Gunner's warrant. He passed his examination 2 years ago and he has been waiting on board HMS Royal William for promotion. He served with him from 1796 to 1802 on HMS Pearl. Sir Roger Curtis and Captain Hack give him a good report.
