On board is Lieutenant William Kent who he put under arrest as detailed in his despatch of 3 June 1809. Charges him with uniting with the mutinous New South Wales corps who had seized him and assumed government of the colony. He took his command of HMS Porpoise and obeyed the orders of Lieutenant Colonels Johnston and Foveaux, carrying the ship to Port Dalrymple where she was run aground and damaged. He became a member of the rebels' Criminal Court where they illegally tried and condemned to death several subjects. He was a member of their court which tried William Gore, Provost Marshal and condemned him to 7 years transportation to the Coal river. This sentence was carried out but subsequently shortened and Mr Gore is now in London.
