Folio 517: Samuel James Ballard, HMS Sceptre, Spithead. Commends Mr Bennett, particularly his exertions in the destruction of the frigates and batteries on 18 December [1809]. Asks him to be granted a regular Commission as Lieutenant of HMS Sceptre.
Folio 518: enclosure with folio 517. Duplicate of order dated 16 July 1810 from Sir Alexander Cochrane, Vive Admiral of the Blue, Commander in Chief at Barbados and the Leeward Islands, on board HMS Neptune, Saintes, to Martin Bennett, Supernumerary Midshipman, HMS Neptune, to act as Lieutenant of HMS Sceptre in place of Lieutenant William Faddie who has been appointed to the Signal Post at Saintes.
