Description

Folio 501: Andrew Broun, Regulating Captain, Greenock Rendezvous. Francis Hughes was taken up yesterday and is now on board the Rosa tender. He was taken up on 4 December 1808 as a deserted supposedly from the Frolic brig or the Jamaica frigate and was sent to Plymouth in the Elizabeth tender on 12 January 1809. Having now no discharge and the Surgeon having declared him serviceable he believes he has deserted again though he claims to have been discharged from HMS Salvador del Mundo as unserviceable. He will sail to Plymouth towards the end of the month unless he receives directions to the contrary.

Folios 502-503: enclosure with folio 501. Letter dated 25 October 1810 from John Colquhoun, Surgeon and Agent for the Sick and Wounded Seamen, Greenock.
